What’s it all about?

As part of the America 250 celebration and inspired by a panoramic photo of the City of Butler by of Ben Hughes, this inaugural heritage weekend will bring together artists, creators, performers, and community to honor yesterday, experience today, and imagine tomorrow.  The event features an art show, market, performances, historical displays, blown glass demonstrations, a community mosaic project, children’s activities and more.

Celebrating our industrial heritage – natural gas ignites

Butler was built by European settlers from many countries who came to work in manufacturing.  They built many houses of worship and founded community organizations that bind us together as Americans and Butlerites! We celebrate this legacy!

The abundance of natural gas led to the rise of the glass industry and later became famous for producing some of the first mass-produced all-steel railroad cars in the US using assembly line techniques.  Then came the expansion of the American Rolling Mill company, specializing in rolled and specialty steels and known for innovation and strong labor-management practices.

Many small to mid-sized manufacturers came along who developed products to support these and other industries, along with the entrepreneurs who put the County on the map for precision, advanced and additive manufacturing.  You have made our city, our County and our Country the powerhouse of manufacturing and innovation!
