Mosaic Experience

Individuals and groups are invited to join artist Carrie Ann Strope to create a 6’x15’ vertical mural on the side of the Penn Theater.

Carrie Ann Strope is a glass artist and educator based in Lincoln, Nebraska, whose work bridges traditional craftsmanship with experimental glass techniques. With over two decades of experience, her practice explores the intersection of material innovation, collaboration, and community engagement. Carrie’s work spans stained glass, kilnforming, mosaics, and torchwork; currently her primary focus is on freeze-cast borosilicate and freeze and-fuse methodologies.

An experienced educator, Carrie teaches workshops worldwide, fostering technical skill-building and creative exploration. Community engagement is central to her career; she has led numerous large-scale collaborative projects, including mosaic and fused glass installations in schools and public spaces. Her work emphasizes accessibility, experimentation, and the shared creative process. Classes for adults, children and families are available in glass fusing, mosaic, stained glass & jewelry.

Butler has a long history in glass research and manufacturing including architectural and bent glass that is seen in buildings around the world to bullet-proof glass used in military and other emergency vehicles.  We celebrate glass through art.

Artist Rich Selfridge brings his hot shop to town offering observers the opportunity to see the glass blowing creative process. For those who want more, they can schedule a 15 minute session for a fee to get a hands-on opportunity to make their own piece.

Rich is a glass artist whose journey began in 2000 amidst the vibrant arts scene of Knoxville, TN. Initially drawn to the mesmerizing dance of molten glass, he embarked on a path fueled by creativity and passion. Now hailing from Tidioute, Warren County, PA, his dedication to his craft has seen remarkable growth, marked by significant milestones and a deepening artistic vision. In 2012, Rich’s glass journey took a transformative turn when he began teaching.

Each summer, Rich dedicates himself to inspiring the next generation of artists, mentoring over 800 children in the intricate art of glasswork. He not only imparts technical skills but also cultivates creativity and resilience in his students, fostering a love for art that transcends generations.

As Rich continues to expand his artistic horizons, his passion for glasswork remains as vibrant as ever. With each piece he creates, he seeks to evoke a sense of wonder and awe, inviting viewers to see the world through his eyes. Whether adorning a tabletop or commanding a gallery space, his art serves as a testament to the power of creativity to transform, inspire, and unite us all
