Silent Movie Featuring the Butler Symphony Players
Butler Magic is a locally produced silent film celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, bringing together the region’s most talented performers and featuring Butler County’s most iconic locations in one imaginative, cinematic experience.
When a present-day protagonist stumbles upon a mysterious prop trunk once belonging to Harry Houdini, he’s swept through time into a playful, high-stakes adventure. Joined by his lady-love, he must outwit a rival time traveler in a romantic comedy that spans eras and celebrates the history and spirit of Butler.
Blending the charm of classic silent film (complete with live musical accompaniment featuring musicians from the Butler County Symphony Orchestra) with modern wit and storytelling, the film unfolds as a whimsical fantasy. Featuring performers from local theatre groups, Butler Magic will be filmed in late spring and early summer and premiere as a special multi-performance event at the The Penn Theater.
